Avatar hits 1 billion

As we wrote here, we were more than skeptical about the James Cameron’s opus.  Well we are the first to admit when we are wrong, and we were.  We saw it opening weekend and then went back a week later to see it again.  Is it the Citizen Kane of our generation, no, but it’s no Gigli either.  We loved the storyline, the effects, the whole package.  And now the movie has passed the 1 Billion Dollar mark in just over 17 days.  Damn you James Cameron you evil genius.

There’s one in every crowd…

So we are back to work today and in between work we caught up with some of our favorite websites.  One of our very favorites is Made In Brazil, with its mix of brazillian news, celebs, models and fashion, it is always an interesting read.  While perusing this morning we noticed this picture.   The guy in the foreground immediately pops out for a couple reasons.  # 1) he is the only one in the picture with his hands in the air, but upon closer inspection other details become more apparent.  #2) he is the only person in the entire club over the age of 30.  #3) he is the only person in the entire club without a shirt on and finally #4) he also seems to be the only one dancing!    Add the fact that the girl in front of him seems to be leaning in the opposite direction as far as her little body will take her and you got one classic shot.  Happy New Year to everyone!

True Blood just got a whole lot hotter and gayer

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/04/2010

Fans of True Blood may not be aware that the popular series is based on a series of books nicknamed the Dead Series by author Charlaine Harris.  Readers of the series theorize that the books are an allegory to the way gays are treated in the United States.  Allan Ball took that theory and ran with it.  In the opening credits “viewers can even see an anti “vampire” slogan on a billboard that reads “God Hates Fangs.”  An obvious riff on the “God Hates Fags” signs seen at the charming anti-gay rallies held at homosexual  and homosexual supporters funerals. They even picketed at Heath Ledger’s funeral because he played a gay man.

Anyway, fans of the series will be delighted that Lafayette will have a boyfriend in the upcoming season played Kevin Alejandro.  Fans of Ugly Betty may recall Kevin as Hilda’s doomed love Santos.  The sex scenes on True Blood are some of the hottest on television and we look forward to seeing what will play out between Lafayette and his new love interest.  With all the naked men on True Blood, the show is already one of the gayest around, and it just got a lot gayer….

Happy New Year Tiger Woods

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/04/2010

Our new year’s resolution was to talk less trash.  Luckily that lasted about as long as that pint of ice cream in our freezer.  So here’s a preview of the new Vanity Fair cover featuring our favorite topic Tiger Woods.  He is naked except for a little beanie.  Honestly, we think more would have been more. We are surprised that such a classy mag as vanity fair would stoop so low as to jump on the sensationist bandwagon.  (note sarcasm)  Picture is by our favorite bankruptee, Annie Lebowitz.
