Versace to cut jobs-Gianni rolling in his grave

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/28/2010

Ok you know things are bad when Versace is cutting jobs. We thought the place was a mob front for money laundering to begin with, so how can this be happening? Seriously besides on the red carpet, where Versace is brilliant, do you know anybody who wears Versace? Besides the Russian hookers that hang at Cipriani, we can’t think of anybody.

Two weeks after Versace closed its New York press office (turning over the reins to PR Consulting for U.S. public relations), the company has announced an extensive restructuring program. Approximately 350 jobs will be cut (25 percent of Versace’s workforce), starting in March and ending in June, with the objective to return the company to profitability by 2011. Gianni  and Donatella must be rolling in their graves.  Strike that someone just told us that Donatella is indeed still alive.

When in Rome opens this Friday

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/28/2010

We are suckers for romantic comedies and for those of you who can’t wait for the juggernaut that “Valentine’s Day” will be will want to see “When in Rome.” The film stars Josh Duhamel and Kristen Bell. We always assumed that Josh was the bitch in his marriage with Fergie, but recent reports that he frequents strip clubs has us thinking otherwise. And as for Kristen Bell, we think it was said best in “Fogetting Sarah Marshall,” she always looks like a “little bitch” to us. Still if your bored and have nothing better to do you may want to check it out.

Ugly Betty Canceled

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/28/2010

Today seemed to start off with such hope, such promise, then I get to work and read the news that Ugly Betty has been canceled. Although Betty straddled unreality (shouldn’t her braces be off by now, why do her and her sister get the hottest guys) we always thought it really had heart. We also really loved Daniel-Eric Mabius-constant cluelessness to basically everything happened in his life. We feel the cancellation lays completely at the feet of ABC. The show started off wildly successful, won America Ferrara an Emmy, but the show couldn’t keep its momentum with the long hiatuses and constant schedule changes. Good Bye Betty. We’re hoping that Henry comes back in the end and him and Betty live happy ever after…

Jersey Shore cast all back for second season

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/27/2010

The cast of Jersey Shore, in an amazing bit of shrewdness, stuck together-following in the footsteps of the cast ofFriends, and demanded a raise to $10,000 per cast member per episode. We personally think they deserve it. Doesn’t Audrina Partridge get about $100,000 per “Hills” episode?  Yet we know nobody who watches “The Hils.” Meanwhile, Jersey Shore has become a phenomenon. We think MTV got off cheap. Supposedly MTV made a statement that it was looking for a new cast. Basically implying that the cast was dispensable and they could get any other Jersey Shore wannabe and nobody would really notice. Well breathe easy Guidos and Guidettes. We can hardly wait to watch Snooki get punched next season, and we don’t mean donkey…

James Cameron is King of the World–again

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/27/2010

“Avatar” has overtaken “Titanic” as the #1 grossing movie of all time.  If you account for inflation and what not the #1 movie is still “Gone with the Wind,” but who’s quibbling.  Let’s hope if he wins the Oscar this year he won’t make as big an ass of himself as he did when he won for “Titanic.”

Victoria Beckham and Karl Lagerfeld-really?

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/27/2010

This one sounds like it was concocted in some fashion publicist’s fever dream but we can’t resists a good rumor.  It seem that Victoria Beckham, Spicegirl, dancer, singer, model, reality tv star, mother, wife, designer, has been approached by Herr Karl to help design a hotel in Dubai.  The sum being offered is reportedly £25Million.  Posh is said to be mulling the offer.  There is not much we wouldn’t do for that kind of money….

Dolly Parton-why we love her

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 01/27/2010

We adore us our Dolly Parton. “Here You Come Again” is one of our top all time favorite songs. I Will Always Love You, which she wrote, is one of the biggest singles of all time. She’s appeared in television, movies and even produced a Broadway show. We sat behind Dolly at a performance of “9 to 5” on Broadway and had to refrain from reaching out to touch her.

Towleroad pointed us to this article in the UK Times that reminds us why we love her. Dolly has never been political, and despite constant gay rumors aimed at her, has always been up front about her support for gays and gay rights. She even has an annual Gay Day at her theme park Dollywood, in the very red state of Tennessee, that got her in hot water with the local Klu Klux Klan. (We didn’t know they hated us too!)

“I’m not a poster child for gay rights by any means,” she says. “But I have so many gay and lesbian friends and they’re just so pure and so true. That’s not politics to me. That’s human rights.”
