Tonight on Television-Top Chef Las Vegas

Posted in Donald McPherson by blogwing on 10/07/2009

Evidently what happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas. Just ask Top Chef hostess/former trophy wife Padma Lakshmi who is now expecting her first child before production wraps on Top Chef Vegas. No word on who the baby daddy is, but at least it’s not septuagenarian Salman Rushdie (Padma’s ex squeeze). The poor child would need years of therapy to get over that one, and would most likely be fatherless before it was out of diapers. Regardless, Padma is one of the most beautiful women on television.

BREAKING: Broadway closed between Houston & Prince due to potentially-falling bits of building

// So I was trying to go to the local Bank of America branch to start a riot and sort out why they cancelled my check card when I noticed a large crowd gathered on the west side of Broadway between Prince and Houston. All were looking up. I asked three people, “what are you looking at?” All three answered, “I don’t know. Everyone else is looking.” Which is stupid.

Finally I made my way to the front of the crowd of followers and someone pointed to the top of a building on the east side of the street. “I think that part of the building is about to fall.” You might be able to see it in the first of the photos above.

Cops had blocked off the street and sidewalk. Firetrucks occupied the middle of the street, and business as usual, at least in this one block, had stopped in New York, though most people had no idea why. Someone in California is reading this right now, and that person knows more about what’s happening on a random NYC street than the people on that random NYC street.

Go Internet.

Also, I wasn’t able to get to Bank of America, so the riot will have to be postponed.

So the other night me and a group of friends went to Copolla’s restaurant (along with Lydia Hearst) to have dinner and a little birthday celebration. It is true that Lydia Hearst was toasted, but tears, i don’t think so. And who reported on this anyways??

Fame Whore

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 10/07/2009

So anybody who lives in New York and goes out any amount of time is probably familiar with the site Fame Game. FG is a website that compiles a person’s sighting, photographs, news mentions and parties attended, puts it all together and then comes up with a rank. The person is then ranked , #1 being the most famous person in New York City at the time. I occasionally check up on my status, ok is a bookmark on my desktop, but I check on it for fun, really!

What is even more fun is to compare your fame to other people’s fame with their Compare Function. I have a long running feud with my friend sarah basile (current rank 2823-just pathetic). The site is utter nonsense as I am usually more famous (according to their algorithm) then say John Travolta (571) or Natlie Portman (1053).

The site also ranks weekly the Movers and Shakers in different categories. I guess that means you’ve had the highest jump in fame that week. Currently I am the #3 mover and shaker in the Arts Category. Now before you think I have a big head, please note that the #1 mover and shaker in the same category is Robert Rauschenberg. Yes the famous artist Robert Rauschenberg, and yes the very dead artist Robert Rauschenberg!

If you have been out in New York City and photographed chances are they have a profile of you already set up. Is kind of creepy how much they keep track of people. You can go to the site, type in your name and if you have a profile, you can claim it. Everyone in the social world pretends not to know about it, but if you go there you can see updates of people. Some change their profile picture daily. Not that I would know anything about that! Happy Fame Whoring!

ESPN to release “Body Issue”

Posted in Phil Mucci by blogwing on 10/07/2009

ESPN Magazine set to hit newsstands October 19th is taking on Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition. Athletes will be stripping their uniforms in order to be photographed for this issue of ESPN Magazine’s first “Body Issue.” SI’s Swimsuit issue is their best selling issue every year, and am sure that fact has not gone unnoticed to those at ESPN

Tennis star Serena Williams, the NBA’s Dwight Howard, the NFL’s Adrian Peterson and mixed martial artist Gina Carano are among the 30-plus athletes posing nude or semi-nude in ESPN. I am guessing Tom Brady, David Beckham and Anna Kournikova are already over exposed as it is. My question is, in this day of internet and paparazzi, haven’t we pretty much seen this all before?

CW cancels “Beautiful Life” after two episodes

Posted in rodolfo martinez by blogwing on 10/07/2009

Producer Ashton Kutcher will have to be satisfied with his movie career and being Mr. Demi Moore for now. His latest project, the CW’s “Beautiful Life” was unceremoniously dumped after only two episodes. Anyone who watched the mess is not surprised. The unbelievable quotient was in the stratosphere. The next time someone decides to make a series about a model agency either just don’t (see also Paper Dolls) or better yet get some people who have actually worked in the industry as consultants. The over the top fashions, runway shows and parties looked like someone in the Mid-West’s idea of what the fashion world is all about-or maybe somebody who watched way too much Dynasty.
