Mr. Chow’s food=Mediocre Take out Food (at best)

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 10/19/2009

We were amused when we read this recent review of Mr. Chow’s restaurant, ironically on the site, Chowhound. The person writing this seems to think that they’ve stumbled on to something, that (gasp) Mr. Chow’s is not worth the hundreds of dollars per diner the restaurant charges. Well we have one thing to say…Duh! To compare Mr. Chow’s to a chinese take out spot is an insult to all Chinese take out.

What is perplexing is that most people, including the staff at Mr. Chows, do not realize this. I started to boycott the spot two fashion weeks ago. Me and my friends, all well placed media types, stopped in for a drink before the beginning of the Carlos Miele after party across the street. Despite the fact that the restaurant was completely empty, including all the outdoor seats, we were told we could not sit for drinks anywhere except the bar without ordering dinner! We promptly took our business elsewhere.

Pop Quiz-high end department store or bargain basement?

while shopping this past weekend we had a distinct feeling of deja vu. We had not seen this much flannel since checking out a Tom of Finland retrospecitve, and those old knit sweaters, not since we were at most 12 years old. Now here’s our question, which stacks/racks are from high end stores and which from a famous discount retailer? Answer will be given tomorrow morning….

The Answer:  All of these were from the same store. Barney’s Co-op which is looking more and more like a thrift store in our opinion.

Halloween by Marc Jacobs

Another holiday another batch of new holiday windows by Marc Jacobs. Marc goes all out for every holiday and halloween is no exception. Here are the latest creepy and kooky windows found in the village by marc jacobs.

Marc Jacobs for Kids gets in on the actions with a kinder, gentler window.

We are equally impressed with the window at the Ralph Lauren Shop just down the street.

Ugly Betty-not so ugly anymore

Posted in rodolfo martinez by blogwing on 10/19/2009

Ugly Betty came back to the airwaves in a new time slot, on a day that is usually considered the prime time graveyard-Fridays. In a (finally) nod to reality, Betty now realizes that her sartorial stupidity is holding her back and decides to start to dress a wee bit more fashionably. We applaud this. How long are we supposed to believe that Betty is smart and capable when she can’t figure out the basics of fashion? What this will mean for the future of the show remains to be seen but we remain mildly optimistic.

Money can buy everything, a small world sold.

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 10/19/2009

guest of a guest reports today that small world was recently purchased by Parick Liotard-Vogt, off of Harvey Weinstein. What this means for the average user of the invite only online community remains to be seen. It could not get worse. The site, although very useful for its European users, has no relevance for people in the states. With facebook remaining the #1 social networking site, small world has a long way to go to convince people that it is a worthwhile option for us when we are online. we literally go on once a week when we get a friend request, and that’s about it. the purchase makes sense and we remain optimistic, really what does Uncle Harvey know about online social networking anyways? From what we hear, when he needs a date, he simply has his assistants procure one for him….

Economy Murders Halloween-Good Grief!

Posted in Uncategorized by blogwing on 10/19/2009

Halloween is always one of our favorite holidays. So we were saddened to hear that this year’s New York Village Halloween parade has only three floats! In year’s past there were typically at least twenty floats. Despite this, event organzers are still expecting a huge turnout. If you would like to attend click here for details.

Tonight’s Big Event

if you haven’t gotten your tickets already, don’t bother trying. The Whitney Studio Party has been sold out for weeks. The event always gathers a who’s who of celebrities in town as well as the best of the new york social scene. The last Whitney party held in the fall featured a slew of gossip girls, as well as the celeb du jour, hot off the recent release of the hangover, notorious ladies man, Bradley Cooper. We hear (from very reliable sources) he likes his ladies in multiples. Tonight’s event will feature a performance by Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson. We are also told that there will be a special guest that will be just as big (famously not physically) as Jennifer. We can hardly wait and will report on the proceedings tomorrow.
