A Place at the Table Benefit for the Ali Forney Center

Rufus Wainwright performed, Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke and Sandra Bernhard watched. The event was held at the Chelsea Art Museum and proceeds went to benefit the Ali Forney Center, which shelters LGBT homeless youth. Note to speakers: when presenting an award, limit yourself to one anecdote per awardee, anymore is just obnoxious. The most amusing part of the evening was Mayor Bloomberg’s inability to pronounce Homophobia or LGBT correctly! Homophobia became Himophobia as well as Homophomia, while he didn’t do much better with LGBT, but at least he showed up to support.
